            Podcasting in Higher Education

Podcast is a term used to describe any software and hardware combination that permits automatic downloading of audio, and/or video, and/or image files, that a user can listen to at their convenience. A common misconception is that an ipod is required to listen to podcasts. Once the podcast is downloaded, a user can listen to a podcast by using any MP3 player, electronic device, desktop computer, or laptop.

In higher education podcasts can be used to support teaching and learning.  Podcasts are easily accessible and students can readily download professor created podcasts about lectures, notes, or related course materials.  Learning Management Systems, such as Blackboard, provide readily available server space where professors can upload and distribute their podcasts.

Here  are a few examples of podcasts that can be used in higher education:
