  Blogging & Instructional Practices

What is a blog? The word blog was derived from combining two words web + log = blog.

Essentially, a blog is a journal that contains various multimedia elements including images,   photographs, videos, podcasts, audio files, and animation. The primary difference between a blog and a static web page is the interaction that occurs between the author of the blog and the readers. Reader comments can be posted to a blog, and the author can respond to comments.

  • CSUFeducation.blogspot.com
    • A free service provided by Blogger.com was used to create the blog. This blog was created by Cynthia Gautreau, as one method for using a blog to promote technologies in higher education.  The content available on the blog is similar to the types of content posted within this website. The interaction between the author and the readers is demonstrated through the responses. Please read the postings to view how this may be used to promote interactions among faculty and their students.
  • Ray Schroeder's Online Learning Blog
    • Professor Schroeder from the University of Illinois at Springfield, has been publishing a blog since June 18, 2001. The types of content that are posted in the blog are directly related to technology use and integration in education. If you are curious about how to create and implement a blog in education, this is an excellent example of promoting technology use in education via a blog.
  • Tim Lauer's Education Technology Blog
    • News, Views, and Information about Technology and Education is the headline for this blog. Unlike the previous blog site by Ray Schroeder, this blog contains numerous multimedia elements that add life and substance to the blog.
